Special Education
Special Education Services in Corvuss American Academy is the practice of educating students in a way that accommodate individual differences, disabilities, and special needs. This involves the individually planned and systematically monitored arrangement of teaching procedures, adapted equipment and materials, and accessible settings.
These interventions are designed to help individuals with special needs achieve a higher level of personal self-sufficiency and success in school and in their community, which may not be available if the student were only given access to a typical classroom education.
Special education is customized to address each student’s needs. Special educators provide a continuum of services, in which students with various disabilities receive multiple degrees of support based on their individual needs. It is crucial for special education programs to be individualized so that they address the unique combination of needs in a given student.
When children/ students with SEN study in general classrooms with their peers, the arrangement is called ‘inclusive education’. As the term indicates, the philosophy that guides this approach is that students with diverse needs (educational, physical, social and emotional) are placed together in age-appropriate classes/groups such that the students can optimally achieve their learning potential.
An Individualized Education Plan (or Program) is also known as an IEP. This is a plan or program developed to ensure that a child with an identified disability who is attending an education in Corvuss receives specialized instruction and related services. The IEP is developed by a team of individuals from various educational disciplines, the child with a disability, family members, and/or designated advocates.
